MAT Recruitment provides this training free to all registered candidates. It forms part of our safeguarding and candidate development programme.
For MAT Recruitment temporary workers, the training must be completed before undertaking school assignments. It supports, but does not replace, each school’s own induction, allergy policy or emergency procedures.
Training designed for real school environments
Candidates learn how to identify risks, take immediate action and fulfil their safeguarding responsibilities.
Recognise
Identify common allergens and understand the difference between a mild allergic reaction and potentially life-threatening anaphylaxis.
Respond
Understand the immediate steps to take, including following school procedures, calling 999 and using an adrenaline auto-injector where required.
Reduce risk
Follow good practice around handwashing, food labels, cross-contamination, mealtime supervision and educational visits.
Safeguard
Take allergy concerns seriously, share information appropriately and report incidents and near misses.

Before you begin
Is the training free?
Yes. MAT Recruitment provides the allergy awareness & anaphylaxis training free to all registered candidates.
Is the training mandatory?
It is mandatory for all persons working within schools from September 2026. For MAT Recruitment candidates, this training must be completed before undertaking assignments.
Does this replace the school’s induction?
No our allergy awareness & anaphylaxis training does not replace the school’s induction. Candidates must still follow each school’s induction, allergies policy, emergency procedures and pupil-specific Individual Healthcare Plans.
How do I access the training?
To access our Allergy Awareness & Anaphylaxis Training, registered candidates should contact their MAT Recruitment consultant. New candidates can begin by completing the registration process.
