Prevent Duty Training

Stay compliant. Stay informed. Safeguard.

As part of our commitment to safeguarding and our compliance with statutory duties, all supply staff working through MAT Recruitment are required to complete the Prevent Duty Training module. This helps ensure you understand your responsibilities in identifying and responding to risks of radicalisation, and supporting vulnerable individuals in the educational context.

The Prevent Duty is an essential part of safeguarding in all UK schools, and completing this training ensures you feel confident recognising when a learner may be vulnerable to extremist influences. As frontline education professionals, supply staff play a vital role in early identification and support, often being the first to notice subtle changes in behaviour or wellbeing. This training provides practical, scenario-based guidance to help you act appropriately, follow reporting procedures, and work in partnership with school safeguarding teams. By completing this module, you contribute to creating safe, inclusive environments where every pupil can thrive without risk.

This training is delivered via the official government online course: Prevent duty training: Learn how to support people susceptible to radicalisation. Once you complete the online course, please send your certificate to the MAT Recruitment team for compliance purposes.

As with all of our training materials, our lesson planning training is completely free.

What You'll Learn...

By completing the official course you will learn about:

  • The nature and purpose of the Prevent duty.

  • How extremist ideologies may develop and ways radicalisation can occur.

  • Your role in early intervention: spotting vulnerability, responding appropriately, making referrals.

  • The support mechanisms, interventions and referral systems in place.

  • Practical steps for maintaining safe learning environments and reporting concerns.

Why It Matters...

The Prevent Duty training forms part of our safeguarding strategy and assists schools in meeting their legal obligations under the Prevent duty. Radicalisation and extremism are recognised harms, and prevent duty training equips you to safeguard effectively in educational settings.

Completing this module ensures you can contribute confidently and safely to the school community, and maintain your eligibility for supply assignments.
