An ECT, previously known as NQT, is an early career teacher. For those just starting out, entering the classroom and the staff room as the new teacher is no easy feat and can be quite overwhelming. However, it is also a fundamental moment for ECTs, as their first role will continue to shape their teaching career. As they say, no one forgets their first job.
In today’s blog we thought we would share our thoughts on why hiring an ECT this September will not only help to progress your school or trust but bring a fresh and progressive outlook to the education setting, inspiring young people and colleagues alike.
1. Up to Date information
ECTs have the most up to date knowledge from teacher training colleges, this information can be in the form of new technologies or codes of practice which colleagues and the school as a whole can utilise.
2. Enthusiasm and Drive
As with all those who have just started their new job, they will have a huge enthusiasm and drive for trying out new things and putting themselves forward for every opportunity possible!
3. Previous Experience
Although not applicable to all ECTS, some will enter the profession having had previous experience in a range of other sectors. This could be anything from roles in the corporate sector to healthcare positions, all of which will enrich and further their teaching capabilities.
Here at MAT Recruitment, we have many ECTs available across the UK to start their new roles in September 2022.
