MAT Tutors: How Can We Provide Effective Tuition For All?

Recent research from Schools Week has reviewed the success of the NTP programme, considering how effective one of the biggest education experiments ever conducted in England’s schools has impacted the education of those in need of intervention or extra support.

It is stated that the challenge now that schools are free to decide how to utilise tutoring is to ensure that it is delivered both consistently and effectively. This is to guarantee that tuition is able to deliver on its purpose of supporting those most in need to make the necessary progress, establishing an impactful and well targeted education provision.

As evidence from EEF (Education Endowment Foundation) suggests one to one tuition can be extremely effective, providing learners with approximately five additional months’ progress on average. Furthering on from this it is found that Tuition is more likely to make an impact if it is linked and building on from normal lessons.
As we understand one to one tuition can be expensive to deliver, particularly if this is delivered by teaching staff. However, approaches that deliver instruction via small groups rather than one to one also are seen to have positive effects although smaller, may be a cost-effective solution to providing targeted support.

Here at MAT Tutors, our highly skilled and qualified tutors are passionate about putting the needs of the child first in their delivery of an effective tuition provision. Not only this but our tutors are available to provide full flexibility ensuring that whether it is online or in-person, morning or evening, your pupils will get the support that they most need! Our Tutors cover core subject areas, including but not limited to English, English Literature, Maths, Science, Modern Foreign Languages and Humanities across KS1 to KS5.
