Exam Results 2022

The last two weeks have included some of the most important days within the education calendar- A-Level and GCSE results day. Not only is it important for our students, as they gain qualifications which will help them shape their future but also it is a vital indicator for our schools, making up a large part of their academic data.

Yesterday’s results and that of the previous week have reported that achieved grades for both A-level and GCSE results have seen an increase since pre-pandemic levels, as more than 26% of GCSE results were a grade 7 or above this year! This is a massively encouraging statistic for students and educators alike, as it proves the effect catch up intervention has been able to positively impact the classes of 2021-2022. However, it must be recognised that over a quarter (25.2%) of GCSE grades received this year were between a grade 1-3. This represents a group of students which still need this support throughout the academic year.

Previously, there has been little funding in place for schools to support their students with appropriate learning provisions in order to access higher grades and most importantly consolidate key learning and skills. However, the recent expansion of the National Tutoring Provision has included the initiative of School-Led funding.

The School-led Tutoring scheme allows schools to use existing staff or external tutoring resources such as private tutoring to provide catch-up intervention to students. These changes will commence from September to provide a more flexible and localised approach by allowing schools and trusts to select the most appropriate tutoring provision that will best benefit them.

Here at MAT Tutors our high-quality qualified tutors care about putting the needs of the child first in their delivery of an effective tuition, as well as providing full flexibility ensures that whether it is online or in person, morning or evening, the pupil gets the support they deserve!
